More things for the Holiday Market

These three little ornaments or charms were a custom order for someone. She has three little boys who all like these three things. So I made one for each of them. The dog was a new one for me, since I haven't made one before, so I decided he should be like the fox, in that he stands on two feet but looks more like a dog. I think he turned out cute, and in the future I think I will make more of him.

Owls, owls, everywhere. Now where ever I look I see owls. I have always loved them, and over the last several years have seen more and more of them. But this year, for some reason they are everywhere you look. So thanks to that, my owl bags are pretty popular. This one, I decided to use fabric for the wings instead of the felted wings. Then I used the same matching fabric for the inside.

This green bag started off to be an owl, but when I felted it, it ended up being to short- which would have been a squashy looking owl. :) So I decided to applique' it instead. I came up with three owls on a branch, and when I was working on it, I fell in love with it and had to keep it for myself. It really is the perfect size for me, since I always like a bit bigger bag for all my stuff.

A few more to add

I added the fox apron set to my Holiday Market booth last week, and immediately it sold. I love this little guy, and the fall colors- especially the orange sash.

This apron set, I made for a good friend of mine for her birthday. She loves bright colors, and feminine patterns, so I thought the fabric choices were good for her. I also made this one with a flower pocket.

More Ornaments

Recently I had a special order for multiple bird and owl ornaments. She wanted them to be in teal, raspberry, and khaki colors. I made the main part of the bird and owls in each color then accented them in the other colors so they would all match. I like to layer them and make them look a bit distressed, to give them that "old" look. (To read about how I make them check out my August 2nd post- Ornaments.)

I also decided to try and make a few of the owl and birds but make them alot smaller. They could be smaller ornaments or charms.

Holiday Market 2010

The Holiday Market is finally here. It is in Downtown Boise, ID and is held every Saturday for seven weeks starting November 6th and going till December 18th. It's from 10-2 p.m. This year I was moved to a different location from last year, and I have to say although the scenery is something to be desired the traffic flow of people is fantastic! Compared to where I was last year on the Grove, which at the time I thought was a good spot, this time I am on 8th street between Idaho and Main st. and it was alot busier, which in turn made for better sales for me! For my first week I did fantastic, and my items were really popular.

I have some new additional items such as magnets and gift tags that I didn't have last year. The dolls and ornaments are new as well. But my big seller was my owl bags! I sold all but one, and my largest one was the most popular, so this week I am busy making more. My small wallets also sold fast too. So I'm making more of those as well. I guess working all day every day paid off, and there is still six more weeks to go. Hope to see everyone there!

Owl and Other Purses

Here are a few felted items I am including in the Holiday Market this November. I had some owl purses last year and sold almost all of them, so I wanted to make a few more for this year.

This is actually a glasses case I had had already felted but just needed to "finish" it. I will see if it peaks any interest at the Market before I make any more of these.

These three bags were already felted last year, but have been sitting around waiting to be "finished" too. The Love bag is done with needle felting- a fantastic technique where you hand felt yarn by using a special felting needle. I love this technique since it allows you to have more control over what you are felting. It can be time consuming, so I haven't done alot of it.
